Daddy has his "Mini Me", down to their little matching cafe au lait birthmarks on their backs. The anticipation of the big day, the new baby's arrival on its actual birth day is unparalleled. This is the big reveal, after months of bonding, preparing and probably most of all, wondering about who this little miracle will be, it's a breathtaking moment to actually meet this blessed wrinkly, red-faced, pale bodied bundle of joy. After the initial post partum joy settles into a contented peace, the newborn baby is now a living breathing person and the proud parents spend many moments searching for reflections of themselves in their precious offspring.
In my blog world, he's referred to as our "Baby Determination", his personality is a combination of two headstrong and strong-willed parents with a splash of fiestiness and a heaping of determination that are all his own. Our "Baby Determination" is bi-racial and clearly reflects his Asian heritage from Daddy, with a warm and toasty complexion and reddish brown highlights in his hair from Mommy. Does my son look like me? No. He and Daddy can share matching cafe au lait birthmarks, we share our own bond. When his toddler frustrations get the best of him and no one understands his needs, Mommy knows and is there for him. That's what really matters to my little "Baby Determination", not who he most resembles.
Love, love and more love! With that said, I'm off to enjoy a nice, hot cafe au lait myself! Mmmmm...
It's time to share, do you notice that your child resembles either parent moreso than the other or do you see a combination of both parents in your children?
