Creativity and learning are two lifelong passions that I am committed to supporting and encouraging for both children and adults.  Take it from Einstein, "Imagination is more important that knowledge."  While there is certainly the need for a balanced combination between knowledge and imagination in today's progressively innovative culture, I'm at a loss as to the quality that stands as being of greater importance.  Being that I write niecyisms' Creative Learning, my love of creativity and learning are a continuing tribute to both characteristics.

Hugo the Happy Starfish Bridges of Creativity is a great way to teach the importance of self-expression and the value of originality in life.  The delightful Hugo the Happy Starfish series of character education children's books by Suzy Liebermann, introduce relevant life lessons, including the subject of creativity to young learners in an informative and fun.  My toddler and I settled down to read about  Hugo's amazing journey to the Island of Creativity and all of the exciting lessons and adventures shared along the way.  Hugo the Happy Starfish Bridges of Creativity was a great motivation for our creative expression through watercolor.

Author's Summary

On the ISLAND OF CREATIVITY Hugo learns that being creative is a very important part of life because you never know what life will bring you.  He also learns what creativity is all about and how much fun it can be.

Hugo is a little starfish whose home is at the bottom of the wide ocean. He longs to visit the real world, and one day he decides to go and find it. Hugo's journey to happiness isn't quite as straightforward as he hopes though. He is sent to a series of different islands where he is taught important character lessons.
By the end of his journey, Hugo has visited fourteen islands, made many more friends, and, most importantly, learned how to be a better starfish.
