Featured Book Review: Stillwell - A Haunting on Long Island

Is Chick Lit your favorite reading genre? Can you sit and read a Professional Development book in a single sitting? Sharing my passion for the thrilling suspense of a truly haunting ghost story seems to appear to be quite immature and very silly to me. It's as if I am admitting that I really do believe in the monsters under my bed, that something sinister is inside of my closet and I am afraid of the dark simultaneously. Reading a well developed story of paranormal happenings however, confirms my appreciation of a captivating story. Vividly rich characters living through the emotional highs and lows of the week following the passing of the Russo family's wife and mother bring the story of Stillwell to life with loss, love and an eerie eternity.

Stillwell - A Haunting on Long Island

Following the devastating void left as Allison succumbed to illness, Paul is tormented with his own grief, his three grieving children and a ominous historical mansion that brings his nightmares to reality. Michael Phillip Cash connects readers emotionally to the Russo family and their doings giving Stillwell A Haunting on Long Island the casual pace of spending time with the friendly family next door. My strong emotional connection to the story coupled with a vague familiarity with Long Island evoked an obsessive interest in Paul's peculiar coincidences leading to the climactic supernatural events. Native New Yorkers like myself, as well as the rest of the population will find Stillwell to be an intense read with a cohesive plot that will keep you thoroughly engrossed until to very last page.

"Paul Russo’s wife just died. While trying to get his family’s life back in order, Paul is being tormented by a demon who is holding his wife's spirit hostage on the other side. His fate is intertwined with an old haunted mansion on the north shore of Long Island called Stillwell Manor. Paul must find clues dating back hundreds of years to set his wife's soul free."

Stillwell won honorable mention for General Fiction in the Rebecca's Reads Choice Awards 2013.
