Words almost always lead me toward compassion. We're all human. How can words not move you too? "Mikey tried, but couldn't hold back the tears from his eyes." If the occasion in Bullies Beware were celebratory and the tears were joyful in nature, there would be little need for a compassionate sentiment. Mikey is unfortunately the victim of bullying and his tears stem from feelings of fear and his own embarrassment. In this coming-of-age story written in lyrical rhyme, Mikey abandons the need to appease his unrelenting bullies. With personal determination, he finds inner courage to empower himself, enlist help and take action to stop the bullying. An easy read appropriate for elementary school through middle school students.
