The Unforgettable Message From Wonder to White Bird

Confident and Cautioned Driving with Toyota and #TeenDrive365

Ladies and Gentlemen... we have a newly licensed teen driver in our home. As the parents of a new teen driver, we have very real concerns for the safety of our newly licensed daughter as she begins this phase of her life. Fortunately, Toyota has acknowledged the very valid feelings of so many parents of young drivers through the launch of their Teen Drive 365 program initiative. After much careful research and consideration, my daughter and I were registered to attend a Teen Drive 365 Safety Clinic event at our local participating Toyota dealership.

I encourage my children to find their own voices and to embrace new opportunities to the fullest. With that being said, I asked my daughter to share her own takeaway from the #TeenDrive365 event. My teen observed, "The purpose of the event was to make us all better prepared for the unexpected, to help all of us to be better drivers. Most importantly, the bottom line is the information was given to us to SAVE LIVES!" As the mom of this amazing teen, I have to say, she hit the mark. Her takeaway was very much in line with Toyota's goals for teen drivers to conceptualize.

Knowing that the life of a Mommy Blogger's kid is by no means an easy one, (depending on the day), my darling protege actually took notes and actively studied our Teen Driver Safety Clinic Handbook to share in our recap of the event. Here are some of the startling statistics stated during the informative presentation.

  • It is estimated that 1 out 5 drivers between 15 - 20 years of age will be involved in an automobile accident.
  • A teen driver's greatest enemies are 1- Inexperience, 2- Distractions and 3- Impaired Driving.
  • P=R not =T (translated) Perception equals reality but does not equal truth.
  • Having a healthy paranoia, and yes, I religiously practice healthy paranoia- is alright. (translated) Listen to your parents and other knowledgeable adults offering practical road safety advice.
We thoroughly enjoyed our lovely afternoon spent participating in the #TeenDrive365 Teen Driver Safety Clinic sponsored by Toyota. Having participated with my teen-aged daughter in this event, I honestly recommend that every family with a new driver or pre-driver to register for this hands-on, interactive class emphasizing safe driving and road safety.
