Share Just One Wish with Hyundai Hope On Wheels #EndChildhoodCancer

Many times I become so frustrated. Lots of days I am overwhelmed with pride. Sometimes, I laugh uncontrollably. Always, I love unconditionally, yet some moments, I tend to cry quietly. Parenting can take you on an emotional roller coaster that loops and spins at a dizzying rate diminishing our ability to maintain our sense of direction, and that's on a good day. Imagine that same ride whirling you through the shadows of the darkest night. To one day discover that your child has cancer is an unimaginable thought. To know that you cannot kiss away their pain, no matter how hard you might try. If you had just one wish...

Before we can believe in the magic of wishes, we must acknowledge the impact of dedication. Founded in 1998, Hyundai and a passionate gathering of New England-area Hyundai dealers committed to the fight against pediatric cancer by launching a local initiative assembled to support the Jimmy Fund at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Their efforts established the foundation for Hyundai Hope On Wheels, a national independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to helping kids fight cancer. Today, the national program is supported by Hyundai Motor America and over 820 dealers nationwide. Each new Hyundai vehicle sold in the United States, Hyundai customers join Hyundai and its dealers in their efforts to #EndChildhoodCancer.

Learning some of the facts and figures pertaining to pediatric cancer, I was surprised and saddened to discover that only about 4% of all of the federal cancer research funding is specifically designated for pediatric cancer. Shockingly, of all forms of cancer, pediatric cancer is one of the most underfunded areas of research. 

To date, Hyundai's donations help to supplement this lack in funding toward research and supportive care for kids. the possibility of being able to attract some of the best and the brightest physicians to the research field fuels Hyundai's commitment to funding childhood cancer research. Hyundai and Hope On Wheels strive to create a community of hope with the mission to raise awareness for childhood cancer, donate life-saving research funds and celebrate the lives of children affected cancer. 

With phenomenal outreach and support, Hyundai has funded approximately $100 million in pediatric cancer research since the inception and vows to continue to do so "until the day when no child ever has to hear the words, “You have cancer.” Together, we can end childhood cancer!"
