Songs of Glory for Unsung Hero

Tyson's Run is a Dynamic Race of Faith from Start to Finish

Observing interactions and relationships has lead me to the understanding that one of the most common needs we all search for in life is the feeling of connection. Seeing how relationships grow and thrive as others interact with empathy and compassion will often help each of us to develop stronger connections with our own family members and friends. We recently had the opportunity to preview the movie Tyson’s Run, sharing the story of Tyson, a teen on the autism spectrum, and his family. Tyson's father coaches the local high school football team to victory, yet struggles with his relationship with his son. Tyson’s Run demonstrates the inner joy we can achieve and share with others when we pursue our goals through faith and determination. Tyson's Run is a dynamic race of faith from start to finish.

Tyson's Run is a Dynamic Race from Start to Finish

"When fifteen-year-old Tyson attends public school for the first time, his life is changed forever. While helping his father clean up after the football team, Tyson befriends champion marathon runner Aklilu. Never letting his autism hold him
back, Tyson becomes determined to run his first marathon in hopes of winning his father's approval.

With the help of an unlikely friend and his parents, Tyson learns that with faith in yourself and the courage to take the first step, anything is possible."

As I reflected upon the dynamics of the simple yet complex relationships Tyson's Run unfolds, I can't help but feel that this is a movie we each may relate to on so many different levels. Tyson was trying his best to find a way to gain the acceptance of his father. This desire fueled his determination to push his endurance further than he or anyone else would have thought possible.

Tyson's father truly wanted a closer connection with his son, however, he struggled to be able to find the father-son relationship he wanted to have with Tyson. Observing the uncomfortable feelings of both Tyson and her husband, Tyson's mom searched for a way to help bridge the gap for the benefit of their family.

Tyson's Run is a heart-warming story of a loving family overcoming challenges, embracing obstacles, while all growing closer in faith and love.
