How often have you come to the point where it seems that life absolutely refuses to allow you to be great? Without hesitation, I'll admit to finding myself in this position more often than I am willing to admit to anyone. Some days it seems as if the game of life is over before it has even begun to be played. Life happens. we also have the ability to unburden ourselves from feelings of defeat to embrace life with a more purposeful mind shift. Many of us struggle with the need to break free from our comfort zones or disrupt troublesome patterns in our lives. Offering an inspiring perspective, we had the privilege of viewing an advanced screening of the movie, The Hill, based on the incredible true story of Rickey Hill. Featuring the emotionally powerful moments pivotal to the phenomenal accomplishments of a perceived underdog, experience the heart and hope of The Hill.

The Heart and Hope of The Hill
"Growing up impoverished in small-town Texas, young Rickey Hill shows an extraordinary ability for hitting a baseball, despite being burdened by leg braces from a degenerative spinal disease. His stern, pastor father discourages Rickey from playing baseball to protect him from injury, and to have him follow in his footsteps and become a preacher. As a young man, Rickey becomes a baseball phenomenon. His desire to participate in a try-out for a legendary major league scout divides the family and threatens Rickey’s dream of playing professional baseball."
One of my most appealing facts is that this movie is based upon an actual, factual, real-life, true story. Inspiring and heartwarming, The Hill is a biographical sports drama telling the life story of Rickey Hill. Overcoming his physical disabilities, Hill was able to rise to fame as a professional baseball player in Major League Baseball.
Taking place during the 70s in rural Texas, Rickey Hill spent the greater part of his youth wearing leg braces and using crutches to help him to get around. While his disabilities may have presented him with challenges, Hill stood out as a highly talented baseball player, aspiring to make it to the field playing in the major leagues.
The Hill | "Never Give Up Hope."
With the help of his father and his coach, Hill worked with great faith and determination to overcome his disabilities and become a successful baseball player. The Hill is based on Rickey Hill being the first player with leg braces to play in Major League Baseball, playing for both the Chicago White Sox and the San Francisco Giants.
Bringing family-friendly movies for all to enjoy, this movie comes to viewers from the writer of Rudy and Hoosiers, and the writer of When The Game Stands Tall.
