Officially opened in 1935, Griffith Observatory stands as a wondrous public observatory due to a generous donation from Griffith J. Griffith. Envisioning a free resource for learning about astronomy while gazing about from one of the most amazing vantage points to observe the sky, as well as the city of Los Angeles. Providing free access to its 12-inch Zeiss refracting telescope and several other telescopes, there's so much to observe at Griffith Observatory. 

Samuel Oschin Planetarium

Noted as one of the world’s most advanced planetariums, featuring a state-of-the-art aluminum dome with Zeiss star projector, digital projection system, theatrical lighting, presentations with live narrations, and a unique astronomy educational experience for all to enjoy in the 290-seat theater.

Leonard Nimoy Event Horizon Theater

Serving as a second theater to complement the Samuel Oschin Planetarium, an expansion remodel to expand the original building, incorporated the Leonard Nimoy Event Horizon Theater 190-seat theater to host live programs, demonstrations, and is also a classroom for school programs.
