Tales of the supernatural in books, movies, or even personal experiences have always fascinated me since my childhood. Peeking into an aspect of our world which is unknown and more importantly unexplained brings to life my innate curiosity. I'm currently reading, The Ghost of Darwin Stewart by L.G. Nixon, which is Book One of a Young Adult Fantasy novel series, rich with supernatural wonder. Blending a ghostly mix of spirituality, adventure, and mystery, in this first story of the Supernatural Warfare series, we're introduced to Lucy, a teenaged girl who discovers an artifact known as the Spectrescope hidden inside of a mysterious box. With this fascinating Spectrescope Lucy is able to peek into a supernatural world filled with spirits, wizards, and daemons. Mysticism has become an increasingly popular genre for a large population of readers. This series reaches out to engage teens and young adults, as well as anyone drawn in to read about the supernatural spirit of The Ghost of Darwin Stewart.
Book One | The Ghost of Darwin Stewart
"Summer vacation may never be the same.
It’s all fun and games until a smelly ghost, and a terrifying shape shifting entity follow Lucy home from the flea market. When a malevolent spirit learns Lucy is the keeper of an artifact he has been searching for millennia to find, everyone she loves is placed in danger. With several other magical artifacts which were in the trunk she purchased from the vendor at the flea market, Lucy finds she has access to powers she never knew existed.
The Spectrescope has shown her a beguiling other world reality filled with magic, spirits, wizards and daemons. The artifact is the key to unlocking many secrets. Secrets, that if not kept, would mean destruction for the world beyond the portal, and possibly her own. Whether she likes it or not, she must make a decision. Will she protect the artifact? Or will she give it up to protect herself?
Lucy has been chosen, but evil is strong.
And the night has secrets of its own."

Following her discovery of this mysterious artifact, Lucy is forced into the position to decide whether she will protect this significant item or prioritize her own safety. Teamed up with her best friend, Schuyler, together they journey off on an adventure filled with a twist of supernatural mystery, strength of courage, and a sense of faith.
Worldbuilding in novels build a detailed insight into places, spaces, and times we can only imagine. I've always found it to be thrilling to read books transporting me from the ordinary to the extraordinary. Controversial in some respects, LG Nixon uses her creativity in building storytelling worlds to bridge the gap between spirituality and spirits.
"So, ghost is another term for spirit.
The Issachar gatekeeper is a clean, fun, faith-based adventure that will introduce tweens, teens, and young adults to spiritual concepts within a biblical worldview. Readers with a faith-led background will recognize various references, while readers with little or no exposure to God’s word will still enjoy a ghostly adventure with spirits, shapeshifters, and a
benevolent High King and evil entities.
The ghostly theme of this series is designed to attract the interest of young people. After all, everyone enjoys a bit of a thrill occasionally. I hope this short exploration of Scripture will
ease any anxieties Christians might feel about the use of “ghosts” in my novels." - L.G. Nixon
