Classic Homemade Coca-Cola Chocolate Cake Dessert Recipe

Absolutely brilliant! I hope that I am not alone in my delight of this most perfect dessert combination, in my opinion. Chocolate cake and Coca-Cola! My first introduction was as I read through the tasty goodness of a Cracker Barrel menu during a family vacation.
Coca-Cola and rich chocolate cake seemed like a magical, mythical dessert fantasy. Most commonly served as a classic, southern hospitality dessert in the southern states, Coca-Cola is the flavorful not-so-secret ingredient in both the cake and the frosting. Did you know that Coca-Cola carbonation stands in as an additional leavening agent to help the cake to rise? Adding in a refreshing splash of cola also gives the cake a light and fluffy consistency along with a rich, chocolate flavor. Let's get set to prepare this tasty recipe to bake a classic, homemade Coca-Cola chocolate cake for a rich and refreshing dessert.

Classic Homemade Coca-Cola Chocolate Cake Recipe

Cake Ingredients

This recipe works best as a 9x13-inch sheet cake. Here's an interesting recipe idea- add marshmallows to add moisture as the cake is baking for a chewy, brownie-like texture. You will need-

1 Cup Unsalted Butter
¾ Cup Mini-Marshmallows
2 Ounces Unsweetened Chocolate Chips
1 Cup Original Coca-Cola
2
 Cup All-Purpose Flour
¾ Cup Cocoa Powder
1
½ Teaspoon Baking Powder
1 Teaspoon Baking Soda
½
 Teaspoon Salt
2 Cups Sugar
½ Cup Vegetable Oil
2 Teaspoons Vanilla Extract
3 Eggs
¾ Cup Buttermilk

Coca-Cola Icing Ingredients

Whipping up homemade frosting with Coca-Cola to complement the cake is often drizzled over the cake while it's still warm, which allows it to melt slightly and form a shiny, crackly glaze as it sets. It may be helpful to prepare the icing ahead of time, maintained at room temperature. Sprinkling chopped pecans or walnuts are a delicious addition (if not an allergy risk) to the cake. You will need-

2 Cups Butter

1/2 Teaspoon Vanilla
1 Cup Sifted Cocoa Powder
4 Ounces Melted Unsweetened Chocolate
1 ¼ Pound Sifted Powdered Sugar
