That's the reason that I embrace every opportunity to try adding something new in the kitchen while remaining true to our classic recipes. Learning to follow popular foodie trends, I've learned there has never been a better day to try pork than today. Gathering the family together, we enjoyed laughs and good eats as we prepared these lean and light brunch recipes serving "The Taste of Now".

Lean and Light Brunch Recipes 
Serving "The Taste of Now"


Many professional and at-home chefs are discovering the reasons that pork has been deemed,  “The Taste of Now.” Freshly prepared, tender pork brings to the table a delectable flavor from many healthy and lean cuts of meat and versatile cooking techniques. Many days we find ourselves looking to prepare a meal that is healthy, quick, and affordable to serve to our families and friends. A festive brunch is the ideal now for lean and light pork recipe ideas sure to delight and impress your family and friends.


Our Sunday Brunch was just the right occasion to feast upon a scrumptious menu consisting of Brown Sugar Cinnamon Honey Glazed Ham, Sauteed Ham Steak and Eggs, Bacon Wrapped Cheddar Herb Mashed Potatoes and Toasted Ham and Cheddar Croissants. Try these lean and light brunch recipes for your next special occasion to experience The Taste of Now with family and friends.







Brown Sugar Cinnamon Honey Glazed Ham

Remember these tried-and-true cooking tips while preparing this recipe, when using a thermometer in the ham to check for readiness (at or above 145°F), be sure that the thermometer does not touch the bone resulting in a false reading. Avoid cooking with sharp utensils that may pierce the meat when turning to prevent juices from escaping. Use other utensils, such as spoons and spatulas to turn the ham. For a crisper surface, preheat the oven before placing the ham inside uncovered while baking.


Preferred Ham Cut
3/4 Cup Honey
1 Cup Brown Sugar
1 Teaspoon Cinnamon

Bake ham on the lowest oven rack as per packaging directions. 

Remove ham from oven after half of desired cooking time.

Brush ham covering with honey. Combine brown sugar and cinnamon to sprinkle over the surface of the ham.

Return ham to oven to continue baking. 

Cover ham with lid to prevent excessive browning. 

Let ham stand 15 minutes before carving.


Sauteed Ham Steak and Eggs

As a more health conscious trends in cooking become the standard, pork is very lean and should not be overcooked. Take the time to allows follow recommended pork cooking temperatures. Measure the temperature at the thickest part of the cut (without touching any bone). Once you’ve reached the desired internal temperature of the meat, remove from heat and allow the meat to rest for three minutes.



Preferred Ham Steak Cut
1-2 Eggs

1 Tablespoon Olive Oil


Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. 

Sautee ham steak on both sides until browned and lightly crisped.

Prepare eggs as desired and serve on top of ham steak. 

Add garnish to preference.
