Based on a True Revolution

So many thoughts come to mind at the mention of the word revolution. What exactly is a revolution? Many people will define a revolution as action propelling change in power or organization. While there are a wide variety of causes for motivating a revolutionary shift, inequality and injustice are often leading factors. Dark images are mostly associated with revolutions, however, there can be light in times of darkness. Our world has been able to set the scene for revolutions of love and light. Based on a True Revolution

"In the 1970s, young Greg Laurie (Joel Courtney) is searching for all the right things in all the wrong places: until he meets Lonnie Frisbee (Jonathan Roumie), a charismatic hippie-street-preacher. Together with Pastor Chuck Smith  (Kelsey Grammer), they open the doors of Smith’s languishing church to an unexpected revival of radical and newfound love, leading to what TIME Magazine dubbed a
Jesus Revolution."

During the times of war and civil protests in the 60s and 70s, peace and love was the call to action from the original "good vibes only" generation. Jesus Revolution, directed by Jon Erwin and Brent McCorkle is based on the book of the same name, sharing the revolution sparked by youth minister Greg Laurie (Joel Courtney), Christian hippie Lonnie Frisbee (Jonathan Roumie), and pastor Chuck Smith (Kelsey Grammer).

Set in sunny California as hippie culture embraced the need for peace and meaning in their lives, the Jesus Revolution arose to fill emptiness with a relationship with Jesus. My heart was filled with a true feeling of joy as two very separate communities–the believers and the beatniks became united in spirit. As I considered the true nature of each of the two congregations, being connected in love is the ultimate purpose.

Fans of movies based on true events will enjoy this widely popular movie, and I recommend watching through until the credit scenes to see the real-life connections. Come together to watch Jesus Revolution, available on digital NOW and on BLU-RAY/DVD on April 25th. Learn more HERE.
